Rules version 1 (October 29, 2011)
These rules are subject to modification so check periodically in case of updates:
PLEASE NOTE: Rules stated or distributed on race day will override any prior written rules.
- Permitted forms of travel are foot and via a fare-based bus (no skateboards, bikes (deco or otherwise), camels, taxis, swoop carts, golf carts, go-carts, are allowed)
- Teams must complete all activities as per instructions to receive credit.
- Clues/Checkpoints can be done in any order. Team Captains will be given passport instructions just prior to the race.
- All checkpoints are mandatory unless otherwise noted.
- Clues/Checkpoints must be completed as a team. No dividing up tasks unless otherwise noted.
- If a clue requires a picture and you can't get entire team in the photo with appropriate image(s) in the background, you can take multiple photos so all teammates appear. However, some clues specify you are required to have all teammates in the same photo.
- You can opt to miss a location (except mandatory ones) but that will cost you a one-hour penalty for each missed location.
- The first team to cross the finish line with all clues obtained as per instructions is the winner.
- Teams are ranked first by the number of check-points achieved and then by overall finishing time.
- Once you cross the finish line you are not allowed to return back unto the course.
- Once the passport is provided to race officials, you cannot edit.
- Any sabotaging of fellow competitors will result in disqualification.
Permitted:
- Lifelines, where you seek assistance, in solving clues, route selection, bus schedules.
- Smartphones, so you can google, yahoo, or yelp or call for assistance in figuring out clues or route selection
Note: Minimum age for participation is 12 years old, however those under 16 must be accompanied on their team by an adult.
